This isn't true for everyone, but one thing that really opened my eyes was when somebody told me, "Most people are simply afraid to not believe in God."

It's scary to think that the lives of the people we love, or even our own, are so fragile and we are helpless to do anything to save them.

However, even if you believe in God, you have to admit he doesn't always answer your prayers (at least with a yes). So what does it ultimately accomplish?MooseIndianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14380524886139071351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523435421763210874.post-31492425121014544092008-07-10T11:52:00.000-07:002008-07-10T11:52:00.000-07:00I'm not a non-believer neither am I a believer. You've been way more eloquent in your blog than I could have been in mine (which is why I pretty much never blog about my de-conversion). I wanted to blog to keep track of my changes, but I think it's too late for that now.

I also used to lead worship at church, and now that I don't, I am confused about how to find people to sing with. Please let me know if you've figured anything out on that front. :)Alicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10396939571455889895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523435421763210874.post-46102922308360688262008-06-19T04:17:00.000-07:002008-06-19T04:17:00.000-07:00You would need to ask why it is God's Plan For You...You would need to ask why it is God's Plan For Your Life(TM) that you suffer migranes in the first place.

He's an absolute laugh-riot is God.Stewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13584058723818113125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4523435421763210874.post-67650641436457866752008-06-17T05:37:00.000-07:002008-06-17T05:37:00.000-07:00Thanks for the update. So glad to hear that it wasn't something more serious. =)

Or do we just want it to work so badly that we decide that it does, regardless of its track record?

I think you hit the nail on the head. Confirmation bias is a powerful thing. When you perceive the difference between faith and non-faith as a literal life and death choice, I think it's even easier to latch on to the successes, and dismiss the failures as the ineffable will of god.K.O.
